GRAND (Grassroots Alliance for New Direction) is a registered political support group operating across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. Our registered address and contact details are available on our Contact page.

For the purposes of data protection law, GRAND is the Data Controller responsible for your personal information.

When you register as an individual member or on behalf of an organisation, we collect: full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, state of residence, Local Government Area (LGA), ward, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) number (optional), previous political party affiliation, contact address (optional), and a passport photograph.

For organisational registrations we additionally collect: organisation name, organisation type, membership size, and the contact person's details as listed above.

We may also collect technical data such as IP address and browser type when you visit our website, for security and analytics purposes.

Your personal data is collected and processed exclusively for the following political and civic purposes:

• To register and verify your GRAND membership and issue your Membership Identity Card.

• To communicate GRAND updates, mobilisation alerts, voter education materials, and campaign information.

• To connect you with your state chapter and local organisers.

• To compile anonymised statistical data for internal political strategy, grassroots planning, and decision-making.

• To comply with applicable Nigerian electoral and data protection laws.

We process your personal data on the basis of your explicit consent, which you provide when you tick the consent checkbox during registration. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, though this will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Where required, we also process data to comply with legal obligations under Nigerian law.

GRAND does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

Your data may be shared with: GRAND state chapter coordinators and authorised local organisers (on a need-to-know basis); technology service providers who host and operate our platform under strict data processing agreements; and regulatory authorities where required by law.

All third parties who handle your data are contractually bound to process it only as instructed by GRAND and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

We retain your personal data for as long as your membership is active and for a period of five (5) years thereafter, or as required by Nigerian electoral law, whichever is longer.

Passport photographs are retained solely for the purpose of membership identification and are not used for any other purpose.

Under the NDPA 2023 and NDPR 2019, you have the right to: access a copy of the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations); withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

GRAND implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These include encrypted data transmission, access controls, and regular security reviews.

Despite these measures, no data transmission over the internet is entirely secure. You provide your data at your own risk, and GRAND cannot guarantee absolute security.

GRAND shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from the use of your personal data where such use is consistent with the purposes described in this Policy and your consent.

GRAND shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the processing of your data in accordance with this Policy.

Nothing in this clause limits GRAND's liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

GRAND reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered members via email or a prominent notice on this website. Continued use of GRAND services after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
